ALTRGO —
A Community to co-own local experiences
product design and web design project for ALTRGO.
I first joined the start-up company ALTRGO Ltd in Hong Kong as an intern, handling the wireframes, layouts, prototypes, and other marketing materials. Completing my 6-month internship, I was put in charge of the app design to make design proposals and decisions as Creative Design Officer.

Design Process
-
We wanted to understand the needs, preferences and pain points of our target audience, whether they are locals or tourists who want to find new experience in a location. So that we could define the purpose, goals, and key features of the platform.
Researches we conducted:
UI Trend
Market Trends
Competitor Analysis
-
We created fictional representations of target users to help in understanding our users' motivations, behaviours, and goals, based on our research and:
interviews with potential activity hosts and participants
online surveys for potential activity hosts and participants
-
Working with the Product Owner, Lead Developers and the Marketing Team, we designed the structure and navigation of the app, followed by developing the outline of the app layout, testing prototype, and enhanced the visual i.e. colours, typography to align with the brand style.
-
We conducted usability testings to identify usability issues, gather user feedback and iterated the designs to improve the overall user experience.
Value Proposition & Uniqueness
-
Personalised Experience
We strategically establish categories based on the season, location, areas of interest and trends. Users can easily filter content based on their interests.
By using an algorithms based on track records of user interactions and browsing history, we also recommend most relevant content
-
Accessibility & Intuitiveness
We simplified steps for creating and joining these experience with clear instructions and navigation.
Minimising the administrative work of a host, from scheduling, managing bookings, and contacting patrons.
-
One-stop-shop
The essence of this platform are the unique and fun experience (we called ‘Journey’) so we wanted to optimise the time and efforts needed for hosts to do the financials. So this is a one-stop-shop for both participants and hosts.
-
Community & Long-term Relationship
We wanted users to message people they met, sharing reviews, and making recommendations for new-comers. People can meet and know about each other, and build a various interest-based communities.
